In-Tune with THE Trainer

What would our relationship with the Lord look like if we chose to be habitually disciplined in our communication and relationship with Him? Galatians 5:16 says, “But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).” Since the beginning of the year the Lord has been using horses as beautiful and powerful metaphors in my life and correlating them in my relationship with Him. Within the past two months the Lord gave me this powerful picture of a horse and its rider. The horse and it’s rider train together consistently to form a close relationship; building trust is crucial especially for journey and adventures ahead right?! During training the horse becomes very in tune with the riders movements, ranging from the slight or strong pulls on the reigns, heel pushed into the side, voice commands, etc. When a relationship of trust is formed the possibilities are endless and exciting. The horse trusts where the rider is leading, the ride who is sitting up high can see ahead, can see jumps, holes, corners and turns and all the horse has to do is follow the lead of the rider. Are you still with me?! Ok, now imagine you are the horse and the Holy Spirit is the rider. What would our lives look like if we went into training to be so in-tune with Gods voice, nudges, pulls, etc? We know God is already victorious, therefore we are. Matthew 6 tells us, don’t be worried about tomorrow, for today has enough worries of its own. So why do we? Why are we living lives that are filled with anxiety, fear, worry, anger and so on? If we are daily disciplined to be intentional with allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our EVERY step.. what do we have to fear?! Then that piece of scripture in Matthew 6 brings on a whole new meaning of LIFE in our lives?! Am I right?!

See our Abba Father desperately wants a deep and intimate relationship with us. He sent His ONLY son to die for us so that we could have a relationship with Him, yet we forget that on a daily basis by trying to do things our own way. . What would your TODAY look like if you chose to GO to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit for EVERYTHING?! Sit on that for a minute? What would it look like to allow the Holy Spirit to LEAD your day? I bet we would see things a whole lot differently. We would say a lot less. We would act a whole lot kinder to ourself and others. Our entire mindsets about ourselves and others would change. I believe we would start seeing things through Gods eyes and we would be living more in who God sees us as, NOT the worlds. This daily intentional discipline has rocked my world and changed my life in ways I can only shout and give God the glory for. It’s removed fear, I’m walking in my true identity, and I’m more in love and astounded by my Abba Father then ever before. Continuing in Galatians 5, when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, guide us... what comes from it? Fruit! The Fruit of the Spirit... love, joy, peace, patience, understanding kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Isn’t that the life we want to be living and the world we want to be living in?! Yes yes and Amen! So I just want to encourage you today... get into training mode. Starting asking God questions and listening for His voice. Be intentional, consistent and real with Abba Father. Another key part... be obedient when He directs you, remember... even if it’s uncomfortable, He knows what’s ahead, therefore we have nothing to fear.
